TIMES ARE URGENT, GOOD PEOPLE!!! as SOPA and PIPA are 'indefinitely' ceased, the question we have at 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' is, was the focus on these bills a coverup for the 'ENEMY EXPATRIATION ACT' (H.R. 3166 and S. 1698)? the house bill was sponsored by congressmen charlie dent and jason altmire; the senate bill was sponsored by joeseph lieberman and scott brown. clearly, this is NOT going to receive as much media attention as SOPA or PIPA, and many people may not have as much concern for this bill, because it seemingly does not effect them as directly, since many who protested these bills with access to the internet and other technologies use them daily.
let's not be mistaken- ALL of these bills are interelated, since they are based on an 'indict first, ask questions later' approach. however, H.R. 3166 and S. 1698 MUST be known, due to the bills representing the STRIPPING OF CITIZENSHIP for those charged on SUSPICION of terrorism. the u.s. government already signed off on the NDAA (which we discussed on the last show); this is the next step sealing the deal, as an obama administration stated through signing statements (which obama deemed 'unconstitutional' during his campaign) that the intention of this administration was not to indefinitely detain. the ENEMY EXPATRIATION ACT would make sure a person deemed a terrorist could not return to this country; it would also increase the probablility of torture- a responsibility in which the u.s. government would relieve themselves of.
another question- would a soldier such as cpl. jesse thorsen be held under this law for openly supporting (in uniform) a candidate who vows to strip military funding?

amongst all of this, we will honor three elders who have transcended this month- etta james, johnny otis and jimmy castor. each of them have contributed fantastic elements to our planet: ms. james bringing her strength, mr. castor bringing his humor, and mr. otis bringing his togetherness. like dusty springfield and teena marie, mr. otis was one of the few white artists to sincerely honor the culture of black art without parody or seeking it out as a trend. he once said, "as a kid i decided that if our society dictated that one had to be black or white, i would be black." otis was also a host on community radio station KPFA- and produced etta james' hit, 'roll with me henry'!!!
we make connection in ALL ways here- let's continue to make those connections in positive ways, as well as truly continuing to fight for justice is whatever ways we are available to!
