on 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' we want to honor fellow KBOO cohorts who inspire and motivate us to do radio with a mission. we want to know what has motivated them to begin and continue in the medium of radio, as well as the people who inspire them. we want to give them a chance to speak in ways they may not be able to on their own programs; and give others who may not have heard them a chance to get a taste of what they do.
the first person we are featuring in this ongoing series will be yugen rashad: community active-ist, writer and musician. in the land of KBOO, he is the host of saturday afternoon's 'the motif: re-imagine a jazz sensibility'- where he considers himself to be not a dj but a "purveyor of culture". where does this jazz sensibility stem from, and is it easy to maintain in these times of technological and energy shifts? in what ways are we to re-imagine this sensibility, whilst keeping its original intent (and honor of the ancestors) in tact? how do we connect this sensibility with active-ism and healing?
