we at 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' want to take the time out to honor the creative light of women- women who compose, produce and/or arrange their art. because there is such a focus on women as simply singers or dancers, it is rare to hear the narratives of those who take charge of the creative process: women such as angela winbush, tawatha agee, rachelle ferrell, teena marie, betty wright, lalah hathaway, gwen guthrie and many others.
one such person who takes charge of the creative process and uses it for good is blue, the 'portland by way of st. louis' songstress. blue will be here with us to celebrate this creative spirit.
from blueazul.webs.com/:
"Singer, songwriter, producer, and educator, Blue, is what happens when purpose and poetic storytelling is influenced by electronica and hip hop, then handed a guitar. Her lyrics are edgy, clever, and memorable and her acoustic sound is melodic and captivating. Introducing an organic combination of rock, folk, funk, electronica, avant garde, and soul, her genre is appropriately labeled “folktronic”. Blue uses satire noir in music to raise awareness of human rights violations internationally, but the songs are so groovy, that people may not realize they’d just been schooled."
blue also does interactive songwriting workshops to help already creative people find a larger voice within themselves.
come and take this journey with us...
