Join Dmae Roberts at 11am for a special hour-long show on summer Shakespeare. We'll hear about Portland Shakspeare Project's (SP)Taming of the Shrew and their companion play deconstructing Petruchio. And then we'll travel to Ashland for a talk with actress Nell Geisslinger who's performing a sizzling rocker Katarina in Oregon Shakespeare Festival's (OSF) Taming of the Shrew.

And at 11:30am, Ty Boice joins us from Post 5 Theatre's raucous comedy, The Complete Works of Shakespeare and finally Michael Godsey updates us on Portland Actors Ensemble's Cymbeline & Merchant of Venice.
First up, artistic director Michael Mendelson is joined by Dr. Daniel Pollack-Pelzner who is the NEW "scholar in residence" at PSP to talk about this summers two plays: The Taming of the Shrew directed by Michael Mendelson and John Fletcher’s The Tamer Tamed (staged reading of a play first published in 1647), which continues Shakespeare’s story of Petruchio and his problems with his second wife, Maria, which began in The Taming of the Shrew.
Both shows are in rotating repertory at Alder Stage at Artists Repertory Theatre. Performances are Wednesday through Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm, Sunday at 2pm. Full schedule and more information at www.portlandshakes.org.

And then we'll get some actor insight from Nell Geisslinger who's steaming and rocking the stage in OSF's The Taming of the Shrew. This is the first time this play has been staged in the indoor Bowmer theatre. Find how Geisslinger handles the famous "problem" speech at the end of show and just who really gets tamed in this rockabilly Coney Island re-imagining of Padua. The Taming of the Shrew runs through November 3rd and is directed by David Ivers, co-Artistic Director of Utah Shakespeare Festival in his directorial debut at OSF.

Then artistic director Ty Boice tells us about the Shakespeare parody, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [abridged] originally created and performed by the founding members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company. Three Actors perform a comic romp of several Shakepeare plays.

Finally, artistic director Michael Godsey of Portland Actors Ensemble updates us on two free summer productions: “The Merchant of Venice,” and “The Tale of Cymbeline." All shows are free and open to all.
The Tale of Cymbeline will open Saturday, July 20 and will run Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. The classical production travels to different parks and will be directed by Portland newcomer, Douglas Lay. The park schedule is:
