with the continuation of our summer theme, we want to acknowledge how summer can sometimes prompt contentious moments. throughout all this also come moments of enlightenment and community building, by people who think and act outside of societal expectations of 'going along to get along.' in order to truly succeed, you cannot be moticated by fear- and you MUST be motivated by love.
as there's a lot of tension surrounding the george zimmerman case, we acknowledge that the focus on the trial is purposeful, while there are a lot of other things slipping past the consciousness of the people: one is lauryn hill's profound statement on the empire, as well as yasiin bey's recreation on film of a forced feeding of a guantanamo bay prisoner. amongt all of this is the u.s. government's new program, in which the official intent is "to reimagine how citizens interact with government through an experience designed around their needs rather than a confusing and fragmented bureaucracy"- project myUSA. knowing the all-too recent series of events related to syping at the hands of the u.s. government, we question what the true intent is as we commend those who continue to question without fear.
and of course, we will be speaking to some of these things- you should expect no less of us! we would also love to hear your voices on these issues!
