Zaher Wahab on the wretched state of Afghanistan and the resilience of the common people
Host Per Fagereng speaks Dr, Zaher Wahab, Professor Emeritus, Lewis and Clark College. Since his retirement in 2012, Dr, Wahab has been working full time in Kabul, Afghanistan. While he is in Portland for a short break he'll give us his view of his native Afghanistan including "the political crisis ensuing the farcical election, resurgent insurgency, various mafias caniblizing the land and its people, a culture of corruption, a failed and predatory state, the gangsterization and criminalization of the entire society,a fractured and polarized country, massive capital and brain drain, lake of security or peace, creation of a vulture class, mass and massive misery, the treachery, foreign meddling, US/NATO/Western drone-killings, imperialism,duplicity and betrayal, and now the scorching summer. yet, the incredible resilience of the common people."
