Post 5 Theatre's King Lear + Corrib Theatre's Chappati
Dmae features Post 5 Theatre's new season starting off with King Lear and immediately following, Othello. We'll talk with director and co-artistic director Rusty Newton Tennant, veteran actor Tobias Andersen who plays Lear. We'll also talk with Allen Nause, actor and former artistic director of Artists Repertory Theatre, He's starring in Corrib Theatre's Northwest premiere of Chapatti by Christian O’Reilly.

Starring Tobias Anderson as King Lear, this popular tragedy tells the story of an elder king who divides his kingdom between his three daughters (Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia) in order to avoid any conflict after his death. This action destroys his family, tears apart the kingdom, throwing it into a state of war. as the mad King who finds everything only when he's left with nothing.
Recommended for mature audiences (partial nudity and adult situations)
Corrib Theatre presents the Northwest Premiere of Chapatti by Galway-based playwright Christian O’Reilly, directed by Gemma Whelan. The cast features Portland actors Allen Nause and Jacklyn Maddux. General Admission seats are $25, students and seniors are $15, and groups of six or more are $20. THE PLAY Chapatti is a love story between two people who have given up on the possibility of love. Dan lives alone in a Dublin flat and spends his time with his dog, Chapatti. Betty also lives alone – with her nineteen cats. Chapatti is a tender, funny, compassionate, and unsentimental play about second chances.
THE PLAYWRIGHT Originally from Listowel, Christian O’Reilly is a playwright and screenwriter based in Galway, Ireland. His plays have been produced in Ireland and internationally by companies such as Druid and Rough Magic. He was a recipient of the Stewart Parker Trust New Playwright Bursary for his debut play The Good Father. Christian is a graduate of the BBC Writers’ Academy, where he was trained to write for Doctors, Casualty, Eastenders and Holby City.
