Hand2Mouth in Rehearsal

First up, a new feature in the year long Pushing Boundaries series. Dmae profiles Hand2Mouth and their new show "Uncanny Valley". We'll sit in on one of their rehearsals, and hear from director Jonathan Walters, performer Faith Helma and dramaturg Alex Huebsch. They'll tell us about how they created a play from scratch during a year of rehearsals and creation, from hours and hours of improv at the beginning, to the finished show they have now. And they'll talk about how they make memories come alive.

Poet Laurence Overmire

Next, we have the latest installment of Writers Read. Laurence Overmire will read "An Actor Prepared", a poem from his new book, "Gone Hollywood". He's a former professional actor and now poet. Overmire's book will be released Saturday, May 14 at 6 pm the Singer Hill Cafe.

Dralion

Finally, we chat backstage with Esther Daack, a former  Portlander who's now touring with Cirque du Soleil's "Dralion", which will be coming to Portland next month. The show mixes dragon and lion, East and West. The shows includes Chinese acrobatics, along with their usual multidisciplinary style.

Pushing Boundaries is a year-long project that explores artists and arts groups pushing physical, emotional and artistic boundaries in their work and it's made possible with funding by the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
