Co-host Jacqueline Keeler joins Paul to discuss the latest cities to stop celebrating Columbus Day
Los Angeles, the second-largest U.S. city, recently voted to change Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day, one in a growing list of cities, counties, school districts and other jurisdictions to make that historic change. Jacqueline Keeler, Portland-based Native writer and activist (of Dineh/Navajo and Dakota Yankton heritage), has written extensively on issues of cultural appropriation, historical representation and Indigenous sovereignty. She now has a podcast, "Not Your Disappearing Indian." The latest episode is "LA Says Goodby to Columbus Day": https://soundcloud.com/user-258306556/la-says-goodbye-columbus-day
And here's a piece she wrote from 2013 on Medium, https://artplusmarketing.com/goodbye-columbus-5c3f2d42eeb9
