2018 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship Winners Share Their Essays
Celeste and Cecil welcome the 2018 winners of the Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship. Each year the Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility sponsor the Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship for 11th and 12th grade students in Oregon. In its tenth consecutive year in 2018, the Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship is an opportunity to hear from young Oregonians on some of the most pressing issues of our time. OPSR sponsors this annual writing scholarship to encourage Oregon’s youth to consider their leadership role in promoting a more healthy, just, and peaceful world. This year a record number of 200 students responded to the essay question: "What would it take to eliminate nuclear weapons in your lifetime."
Join us to hear the essays and engage in conversation with the recipients about their hopes, thoughts, and ideas of how to eliminate nuclear weapons.
