On this episode of the Gap, Tammy and Althea start by interviewing S. Renee Mitchell, the founder of I Am M.O.R.E. a nationally award-winning, youth-leadership program. Mitchell has developed a creative-and arts-based, intergenerational endeavor that is intended to increase hope, healing and a sense of belonging within the tiny Black community dispersed around the state. Her organization has created the "Spreading the Black Joy Virus" campaign, which is comprised of multiple creative undertakings that each offer a form of engagement with various demographics within the Black community.  For example, there's the "Reviving the Black Nod" film, several contests are designed specifically for young people to earn money and other prizes for writing poetry, creating a TikTok music video or engaging in youth-facilitated conversations, called Talk Back/Talk Black about issues important to their age group. Find these and more projects at www.spreadingblackjoy.com

Then, we debrief some of the local goings-on of the past week or so, which includes a snow and ice storm plus mass power outages. We hear from the community about their experiences in the snow with their neighbors and get offered a cool new band name, "School girl silliness!"
