Much of this program harks back to folk music from the last century, from the 1960s. It's not old music, it's just not new music. The music lives on and on.
Richie Havens "The Klan" (1968) opens the show and It's a Beautiful Day "White Bird" (1968) ends it. Scattered in between are other last century creations including The Kingston Trio "Seasons on the Sun" (1964), Peter, Paul & Mary "Lemon Tree" (1962) and The Incredible String Band "The Hedgehog's Song" (1967).
Of course this 90-minute show blends in lots of 21st century music, too, in a variety of styles, to make a varied and entertaining program for you. There's even a nod to the best movie in 1969 - Midnight Cowboy.
You can hear folk music on KBOO every Monday through Friday morning 5:30 to 7:00, followed by Democracy Now, and every Friday afternoon with Movin' On following news at noon till 1:30.
