Eleanor Goldfield hosts this week's program. While the COP27 climate conference was underway, she spoke with Khadeeja Naseem, a cabinet minister from the Maldive Islands; the Maldives are one of the countries most endangered by sea-level rise. Their conversation included the issue of compensation by industrial nations for the worldwide climate damage caused by their greenhouse gas emissions.
In the second half of the program, Eleanor interviewed Rory Varrato, a university professor and climate organizer; they discussed the gap between capitalist powers' rhetoric about addressing the climate crisis, and the much more "radical" measures actually needed.
