Please join us for Transpositive on KBOO Community Radio on Tuesday, August 15th as we discuss current events. This week we will be discussing the rider which Marjorie Taylor Green tried to attach to the military appropriations legislation recently passed in Congress.
The rider introduced by Green would have eliminated federal funding for transgender-related care. A clear majority of Americans have indicated they do not support efforts by right-wing Republicans to attach anti-LGBTQ legislation as riders in federal legislation. We will discuss the concern that Democrats will cave in at some point in this year's election season and give up on fighting for protections for trans and non-binary individuals, in the face of an overwhelming push by conservatives in southern states and some western states to erase trans rights.
We will also talk about the concept of "passing" and the cultural implications of how we as a society are colonized to see bodies that sell products and feed our insecurity and where we as transgender people fall within that cultural phenomenon. We are joined this week by Gigi, Nicolette, Sheila, and Emma.
