Spoken word show with poets Sam Lohmann, Jim Shugrue and Andrea Hollander

This edition of The Talking Earth features local poets Andrea Hollander, Jim Shugrue and Sam Lohmann. Host dan raphael will also throw in a couple poems from his bookshelf.

Andrea Hollander is the author of six full-length collections including the just-released And Now, Nowhere But Here, from Terrapin Books; Blue Mistaken for Sky, a finalist for the Best Book Award in Poetry from the American Book Fest; and Landscape with Female Figure a finalist for the Oregon Book Award; Her poems appear widely, including a feature in The New York Times Magazine. With over 30 years of teachin experience, she currently conducts the Ambassador Writers Seminar via Zoom. Her website is www.andreahollander.net.

Jim Shugrue has published three chapbooks: Floating Verses; Small Things Screaming (a finalist for the Oregon Book Award) and Icewater, as well as Cards and Letters, a book of poetry and images in collaboration with artist Paul Schaap. He’s received an Open Voice Award from the West Side Y in New York and a fellowship from the Oregon Arts Commission.

Sam Lohmann is a poet and librarian living in Vancouver, Washington. He is the author of several books and pamphlets including Stand on this picnic bench and look north (Publication Studio, 2011) and Unless As Stone Is (eth press, 2014), and a co-organizer of Portland's long-running Spare Room reading series. Recent poems have appeared, or are about to appear, in the magazines Luigi Ten Co. and Hot Pink.
