This week on Century of Lies: Oregon Post-Recrim: Deflection and Diversion.

Loyal listeners will recall that my home state of Oregon recently took a big step backwards in drug policy by recriminalizing the simple possession of small amounts of some drugs. Some friends have asked me how things are going out here, so I thought in case listeners are wondering the same thing that on this edition of Century we’d have a quick update. The Oregon Legislature’s Joint Interim Committee On Addiction and Community Safety Response met on September 24 to hear invited testimony. We hear from one of the witnesses, Ken Sanchagrin, Executive Director of the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission.

Plus, on Tuesday October 1 the National Safer Supply Community of Practice in Canada held one of its Research Spotlight Webinars, this one entitled Safer Supply Ottawa Evaluation: Summer 2024 Report. We hear from Marlene Haines, RN, PhD, a researcher and nurse practitioner student in the School of Nursing at the University of Ottawa.
