Mohammad Bader is an Arab American, Palestinian poet, National Certified Counselor, and host of a bilingual called podcast The Arabian Traveler Poetry.
He was born in East Jerusalem and much of his poetry reflects his experience as a first generation immigrant. His book The Traveler was published in 2011 by Lulu Press. Although the book was mainly written in English many of the poems were originally written in Arabic then translated by him into English.
Mohammad majored in English at Bethlehem University and later studied counseling at Portland State University. The Traveler spans a 25 year period of Mohammad’s work living in America precisely from 1986-2011. Much of Mohammad’s early poetry was lost. His book examines four themes: Love Man-Woman relationships, Peace Versus War, The Immigrant and The MotherLand and Utopia Versus Morbidity.
Although this is not an autobiography, many of the poems are based on events and instances that happened in or around Mohammad examples include Palestinian Intifada, Oslo agreement, Gulf war and later Iraq war and of course the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Mohammad hopes and dreams for peace and Justice, specifically in Israel and Palestine. Mohammad has taken the US as his homeland but always there is that nagging feeling of wanting to go back home. His poetry received numerous honorable mentions and editors choice awards.
