Tonight we present one of Jack London's South Seas Adventure Stories, The Seed of McCoy. A steel hulled clipper ship, carrying grain has a slow smoldering fire deep in one of her cargo holds. Still afloat and under sail, but enveloped in smoke, the captain seeks to go aground on an island. Allowing the fire to burn the wooden parts of the vessel, but leaving its metal hull intact. They have arrived at Pitcarne Island, home to the descendants of the crew of the Bounty. Their governor, old man McCoy, convinces the captain that there is not harbor or even a beach on the island, and he volunteers to lead the ship to the nearest island they can put the ship ashore. Thus begins an epic sea adventure as the weather and tides of the South Pacific drive the vessel past island after island. Will they find a suitable island before the ship burns completely?
