Fair Wage Policy & Sanctuary for Day Laborer
The first half of this weeks show features excerpts from a community hearing on the City of Portland Fair Wage Policy, which drew over a hundred low-wage workers and their allies, who testified before representatives of Mayor Hales and Commissioner Saltman.  Janitors, security guards, parking attendants, civic stadium and others who work for companies that contract with the City are fighting for a fifteen dollar fair wage.  In the second half of the show, we hear excerpts from a rally outside the US Citizenship and Immigration Service office in support of Francisco Aguirre, a day labor organizer facing deportation, who has taken refuge in the sanctuary of Augustana Church.
