Two Sacred Music Concerts, organized and presented by Jessica Israels, will be musically previewed. Three guests will expertly do this:
from 2:30 to 3 p.m. - Jessica Israels - singer, educator, and conductor - and Katherine FitzGibbon, director of the choral group Resonance Ensemble;
from 3 to 3:30 pm - Portland vocalist Marilyn Keller, whose 35-year career on music and theater stages has led to internation fame, and is the 2016 inductee to the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame.
We'll open the show with music inspired by the 2016 film "Miles Ahead", starring Don Cheadle.
We'll close with music reminiscent of the 2015 film "Born to be Blue", on the life of Chet Baker as portrayed by Ethan Hawke.
Also, we'll reflect on the OBP Oregon Experience film "Jazz Town", which explores Portland jazz history from 1940 through the end of the 1950's.
Your host,
Bob Riddle
