Grandmother Beverly Little Thunder Talks about Oceti Sakowin Camp and Two Spirit Nation

Grandmother Beverly Little Thunder joins us on the Moccasin Tracks broadcast this week in so-called Vermont. Just back from her homeland and the Standing Rock Spirit Camps of the Oceti Sakowin she tells us about the welcoming of the Two-Spirit Nation. We also talk about the work that remains in the traditional territory of the Abenaki Nation where we are broadcasting from.

Protecting water is the primary reason of the camps to stop the Dakota Access (Bakkan oil)Pipeline from crossing the Missouri River and polluting the drinking water for 17 million people. The camps are non-violent and based in prayer. Arrests have happened and military presence is increasingly violent with many human rights being violated. This is a campaign that has invited non-natives to join but we are witnessing a continuation of racial profiling and abuse happening.
