Bill Resnick talks with Jaimes Valdez of Northwest SEED
Oregon is behind California and many other places in responding to climate change, but a program called Community Energy, enacted by the legislature last year, might provide a start towards meaningful action, if the Public Utility Commission writes rules that make that possible. Jaimes Valdez is Policy Manager for Northwest SEED, Sustainable Energy for Economic Development, whose mission is to work at the local level to reduce dependency on high-carbon fuels and speed the transition to an energy system based on sustainable renewable energy. He and Bill Resnick discuss how Community Energy programs might operate such that city residents might be able to greatly reduce fossil fuel burning.
