Host Denise Morris talks with Margot Black, a founding member of Portland Tenants United, about HB 2004 a bill in the Oregon Legislature to end no-cause evictions and lift the ban on rent-control (otherwise illegal since the 1980s) It has already passed the House. They discuss the practical realities of being a tenant in a state where rents can rise without restriction and tenants can be evicted under shady circumstances, how HB 2004 attempted to protect tenants and was amended to exclude tenants, and about the importance of calling senators to demand they pass if not fix the bill.
