The supposed or actual recent gas-bombing in Syria was the reason for the US-French-British missile attack in response. Did it happen? If so, who did carry it out? How can we know? Does our guest Idrees Ahmad (who in Dec. 2016 wrote a scathing criticism of fellow journalist Robert Fisk), know? Does Fisk have a strong basis (see article) to deny the claims that Assad dunleashed chemical weaponry? Well, we won't hear his side unless he happens to hear about this and call in. So for now we'll hear from Ahmad, a co-editor at PULSE political weblog and contributor to publications too numerous to mention (see more about him here).
There is also a debate over differing positions on the Left over the Syria situation, regarding Assad and his regime, Russian and U.S. involvement (and their regimes) , and other issues (here's one take on it). Which are most valid? What do you think about it?
Hopefullly, this conversation will shed some light or help us all think a little more acutely about it. But of course that also may depend on your own participation in the discussion at 503-231-8187 to call in. Please keep the discussion lively and focused! And respectful! We'll try and do the same.
