ORGANIZING, SUING THE FEDS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE and ANTIRACIST STRATEGY

Clayton Morgareidge will host this edition of the Old Mole, featuring--

  • Discussions of two major organizing projects with broad social justice agendas now emerging in Portland: The Oregon Poor Peoples Campaign, focused on the state and national levels; and the Portland Metro People's Coalition, a local group. Bill Resnick will talk with Monica Beemer and Hyung Nam.
  • A report on the suit being brought by young people against the federal government for inaction on climate change, thereby threatening their lives. A recent decision by the Ninth Circuit of Appeals rejected the Trump administrations attempts to block the lawsuit from going forward to trial. Our Left and the Law team, Jan Haaken and Mike Snedeker will explain.
  • A reading by Clayton Morgareidge from the conclusion of Ibram X. Kendi’s book Stamped at the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America about the best way forward for the antiracist movement.
