On Tuesday May 28 at 11.30 a.m. Amanda Clem interviews artist Amy Bay about her month-long artist residency with c:3 initiative and Pulp & Deckle,, and also about her semi-regular program ART HOUR which aims to encourage and empower "regular people"  with the tools to engage with art.

Amy Bay is a painter based here in Portland, OR. Amy was born in Elkhart, Indiana and earned her BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Winchester School of Art.  She has exhibited her work at venues in the Pacific Northwest including Melanie Flood Projects, UNA and SNAG Gallery, as well as throughout New York City at Peninsula Art Space, The Painting Center, The Drawing Center, Printed Matter, Brooklyn Public Library, and The Bronx Museum of the Arts. She has shown internationally in group and solo shows and has been awarded grants and projects from the Regional Art and Culture Council, The Lower East Side Printshop, Dieu Donné Papermill and Women's Studio Workshop. She currently teaches at Portland Community College and Village Home Education Resource Center and hosts monthly gallery-based discussions through ART HOUR.

The c3:Papermaking Residency was established in 2014 to engage artists with little or no experience in hand papermaking, and offer them an opportunity to learn the craft and stretch the limitations of what the medium can do. Provided with instruction and guidance via technical assistance from a professional papermaker/artist at Pulp & Deckle studio and exclusive 24/7 access to the studio, residents create and exhibit new work.

The residency focuses on illuminating the possibilities within the medium of papermaking and encourages experimentation, risk, research, and collaborative learning.
