It may surprise some listeners to know that the US Forest Service is not an organization solely dedicated to the preservation of our nation’s forests and managing public lands. Instead, their charge also includes selling the timber from these forested lands for profit.
Bark is an Oregon non-profit watchdog organization dedicated to protecting, preserving and transforming Mt. Hood National Forest. Their work has helped shape numerous timber sales in the area while advocating for the wilderness and the public’s right to access it.
KBOO's Althea Billings and Nat Moon speak with Courtney Rae, the Associate Director of Bark, and Tara a volunteer with Bark.
