David Friesen guests for Gary Barone memorial at 3 p.m.
December 2019 was tough on trumpet players.
We lost two of the best.
Gary Barone was one of our own. He lived, performed, and studied in Portland
from 1986 to 1995, earning a MS in economics from PSU while playing in their band.
He performed, toured, and recorded with bassist David Friesen,
who will be our guest to present Gary's memorial at 3 p.m.
The show opens with a tribute to Jack Sheldon,
a humorist, actor, and singer in addition to starring on jazz trumpet.
One of the discs we'll hear is titled "Singular", which defines Jack perfectly as:
individual, peculiar, distinguished, exceptional,
unusual, odd, whimsical, unique.
