Bill Resnick speaks with Madeline Carroll and Maria Cahill, of Oregon District Attorneys for the People, who are part of a national movement to elect progressive DAs who instead of targeting black, brown, houseless and immigrant communities, will instead hold police and prosecutors accountable in protecting everyone in our communities. The district attorney is the most powerful position in the criminal legal system—and the campaign aims to decrease the everyday impact that the criminal legal system has on communities of color, while building community power to self-determine what safety and healing look like.
