Vera Violet by Melissa Anne Peterson

Our In Depth guest today, on this special Winter Membership Drive newscast, is Melissa Anne Peterson, author of the new novel Vera Violet from Counterpoint Press.

Melissa grew up in the logging town of Shelton, Washington, and received her undergrad degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, and an MS degree from the University of Montana. Over the past 12 years, she’s worked in endangered species recovery in both Washington and Montana. Melissa’s writing has appeared in Camas, Flyway, Journal of Writing & Environment, and Oregon Quarterly. Vera Violet is her first book.

In the words of Tobi Vail of the band Bikini Kill: “Mel Peterson is the literary voice of the dispossessed Pacific Northwest youth that we’ve come to know so well through song. Vera Violet is a fantastic debut.”
