Poets Lex Runciman, Amy Baskin and Kristin Berger read on Talking Earth

Welcome spring with far-ranging local poets Amy Baskin, Lex Runciman and Kristin Berger. Host dan raphael will also read a couple poems by Amiya Bashir, Donald Dunbar and himself.  

Amy Baskin’s work is currently featured in Kai Coggin’s Wednesday Night Poetry, Pirene’s Fountain, Friends Journal, and is forthcoming in Pilgrimage. She is a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, an Oregon Literary Arts Fellow, and an Oregon Poetry Association prize winner. When not writing, she helps run literary arts programs including Fir Acres Writing Workshop at Lewis & Clark College. She is the author of one chapbook: Hysterical Cake (Dancing Girl Press, 2021), and her collection Night Hag(Unsolicited Press) will be born in April 2023.

Lex Runciman is a native Portlander, author of six books of poems, including The Admirations, which won the Oregon Book Award in poetry. and Salt Moons: Poems 1981-2021 published by Salmon Poetry in Ireland. After a long teaching career—eleven years at Oregon State and 25 years at Linfield—he and his wife of 50 years have returned to Portland.

Kristin Berger is the author of five published poetry collections, including Changing Woman, Changing Man: A High Desert Myth, just out from Nightjar Press, which she’s reading from tonight. Refugia, from Persian Pony Press, and Echolocation from Cirque Press. Earthwork will come out this August from The Poetry Box
