Discussion with April Sims, Secretary-Treasurer of the Washington State Labor Council regarding 'showing up differently' to encourage a diverse labor movement.

Join hosts Tina Turner-Morfitt  for the Oregon Coalition of Black Trade Unionists segment of Labor Radio. The featured guest is April Sims, the Secretary-Treasurer of the Washington State Labor Council. Our conversation will examine a concept of creating a labor movement that enhances “showing up differently” to facilitate a more welcoming and diverse labor movement. Sister Sims speaks about the evolution of the Race and Labor training into a program and then evolving it into a real campaign in the Washington State Labor Council. She reflects on her challenges to create a durable district reflective of the geographical  changes within the redistricting process and creating and addressing a culture change in the labor movement.
