Host Glen Andresen and guest Jim Gilbert are back on tape this month, having recorded the show live the preceding week. November is the season of leaves and we offer compelling reasons why you should go get them; afterall, they are free and chock full of nutrients. We also get an update on the family fun known as apple cider pressing, as Jim's grandkids joined him to make 15 gallons of the soft stuff. Plus we discuss quince, pineapple guava, dividing rhubarb and other perennials, and Jim wraps up his recent travels and talks about growing olives in Italy...and Oregon.
As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (oak leaves...and should you use them--answer: heck yes!) and a new Garden Stumper (the winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland!). Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary term is "parthenocarpy." And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month..
Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, and don't want to call in, you can always email us at [email protected] -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show. Furthermore, you can record a voice memo of your gardening question on your phone and email that to us. We will play it on the air next month and answer your question.
The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
