Please join us this Tuesday at 6pm on Transpositive PDX on KBOO Community Radio as we discuss the intersection of nonbinary identites and nuerodivergency.  This week the collective joins Nick Walker, the author of "Neurocosmopolitanism: Notes on Neurodiversity, Autism and Cognitive Liberty."

Neurodiversity is the diversity of human brains and minds – the infinite variation in neurocognitive functioning within our species. The neurodiversity paradigm is an emergent cultural paradigm in which neurodiversity is recognized as a form of diversity that should be approached and embraced like gender diversity, ethnic diversity, or any other form of human diversity. Neurodivergent, a term originally coined by neurodiversity activist Kassiane Asasumasu, means having a mind that functions in ways that diverge significantly from the dominant societal standards of ‘normal.’

From Neurcosmopolitanism,"Neuroqueer is both a verb and an adjective. As a verb, it refers to a broad range of interrelated practices. As an adjective it describes things that are associated with those practices or that result from those practices: neuroqueer theory, neuroqueer perspectives, neuroqueer narratives, neuroqueer literature, neuroqueer art, neuroqueer culture, neuroqueer community. And as an adjective, neuroqueer can also serve as a label of social identity, just like such labels as queer, gay, lesbian, straight, black, white, hapa, Deaf, or Autistic (to name just a small sampling)."

Transpositive is a monthly program in Portland exploring themes important to those who identify as Transgender, Gender Non Binary and Gender Non-Conforming. Transpositive tries to connect listeners with the ongoing activist, arts, culture, and dialogue happening in Portland and beyond.
