Join hosts Tina Turner-Morfitt, Dr. Audrey Terrell and Ms. Deborah Hall in our conversation with Lorretta Johnson, the Secretary-Treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers. Sister Johnson’s professional career began in 1966 as a teacher’s aide in a Baltimore elementary school. She has a vast experience of lobbying and bargaining on behalf of teachers and paraprofessionals. Since the national elections of 2016 and 2018, she has focused on the “Urgency of Now” in readying her members towards the next general election of 2020. Sister Johnson is an integral force, not only with the American Federation of Teachers, but also serves as a Trustee of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists International.
