Please join us for Transpositive on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6pm on KBOO. This week we replay an interview with attorney Shaleen Shanbhag regarding the case of transgender prisoner Adree Edmo. The supreme court chose to uphold a ruling of the ninth circuit court that the Idaho Department of Corrections must provide medically necessary gender confirmation surgery to Ms. Edmo. The Court of Appeals affirmed the decision of the district court ordering IDOC to provide this life-saving treatment for severe gender dysphoria. We will discuss what this means for other transgender prisoners across the nation.
During the second part of the show we will talk with actress TL Forsberg about her new work, The Book That Won't Close, which features a Transgender character as central to her play which follows a bi-culturally fluid deaf woman through her journey of wholeness as she learns to confront the parts of herself that are both hearing & Deaf.
