Denise Morris Hosts this episode of the Old Mole which includes:

Police Reform: Bill Resnick talks with Seemab Hussaini with the Council on American Islamic Relations and Brown Hope about the work of the Portland police reform network. They discuss why police reform is so important and what is necessary for it to happen as today is perhaps the best chance to transform the police.

Letter from a Birmingham Jail: Sharon Grant reads from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's Letter from the Birmingham Jail and how it speaks to the uprisings of the Black Lives Matter movement. Grant is a community health educator in Portland.

Fire, Pandemic and Prisons: In their Left and the Law segment, Jan Haaken and Mike Snedeker talk about the tragic impact of the pandemic on prisoners in Oregon and California. Among the hottest spots for Covid-19 now are prisons. Twelve people have died on San Quentin's death row, not from lethal injection from the coronavirus.

Air Quality: Bill Resnick interviews Linda George, a professor in the department of Environmental Science and Management at Portland State University. Linda George studies air pollution in the Portland area and has contributed much of her work to environmental justice initiatives in Portland. They discuss what we are breathing, the dangers and what can be done.
