Highlights from holiday visits by great local musicians

For many of the past few years, it's been a holiday tradition on The Songcircle to welcome the band from the beloved annual Stumptown Soul Holiday Spectacular benefit concert. Since they can't play live for us this year, we're revisiting highlights from several years' performances - including the great LaRhonda Steele with the single most powerful live musical performance I personally have ever broadcast.

Before the "live" music, we'll hear a selection of alternative-Xmas tunes -- including Woody Guthrie, Jackson Browne, Dick Gaughan, and Kris Kristofferson in a conversation in song about the politics of Jesus. Plus: The Beatles, The Band, Big Star, James Brown, the Kinks, the Staple Singers, Sharon Jones, and Cassleberry-Dupree asking Dory Previn's musical question, "Did Jesus Have a Baby Sister?"
