You may look at our playlist and think, "I know these songs...what's so rare about them?" While many of the song titles are familiar, its the versions we play of them that are not. Hear The Beatles (John, Paul, George, Stu, & Pete) sing 5 songs from a sound test in 1960. Hear the Beach Boys play Surfer Girl when the Wilson brothers were 19, 16, and 14 years of age. Hear Bruce Springsteen's original demo recording of Born In The USA two years before it was perfected and released. We also have songs that were recorded but never released from famous artists such as The Beatles, Elton John, and Marvin Gaye. You get the idea. There's some pretty cool stuff here. Enjoy.

Listener Comment
Great episode Scott and Joe! I listened to about half of it so far while I was driving in the car yesterday. I really appreciated Joe's knowledge about the Beatles rare moments in recording sessions. It was interesting that you borrowed this from a recent snippet of a historical documentary work also re-released recently about the Rubber Soul and the Revolver albums.
...I listened to a little more just now at home. I particularly also liked these other rare versions you selected of Marvin Gaye, The Beach Boys, and especially the ending number by Bruce Springsteen. It's the first time I've ever heard this early raw version of Born in the USA. As Joe said just a solo singer and his guitar, and as Scott said, has a tremendous intensity.
