Host Marvin Simmons speaks with members of military families participating in the National Premiere of HOMEFRONT 911 in Portland, Joining Forces with Returning Veterans Project.
Military families are struggling with mental health issues at nearly the same rate as U.S. soldiers. Homefront 911: Military Family Monologues tells the stories of the families left behind. The national premiere of Homefront 911 is Friday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m. at The Old Church, 1422 S.W. 11th Avenue, Portland, Oregon. Developed by prominent military family advocate Stacy Bannerman, author of When the War Came Home (2006), Homefront 911 will take the audience deep into the experience of today's military families. Drawn from actual accounts of how a decade of war is coming home, these original monologues speak from the heart of the American Homefront.
The event is open to the public with a sliding-scale suggested donation of $5-25. Tickets available at www.showtix4u.com or by calling the toll free number 1-866-967-8167. Tickets at door cash or checks only. Homefront 911 is a project of The Sanctuary for Veterans & Families 501c3, in partnership with the Returning Veterans Project, and was made possible in part by a grant from Oregon Humanities (OH), a statewide nonprofit organization and an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, which funds OH’s grant program.
