Stories of ICE raids have riddled news outlets in earnest since President Trump was inaugurated. It has put many cities at odds with federal executive orders and caused national speculation over immigration rights and where they intersect with the Tenth Amendment. These have led to more questions from communities nationwide circling around what ICE is and who they are working with. Portland has long since hosted an ICE detention facility which is not found on ICE’s website.

KBOO's Zelos Marchandt sits down with a family deeply affected by the surge in federal activity targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. 18 renter families in the Cully neighborhood's Normandy Apartments in NE Portland are in imminent danger of losing their homes after their landlord sold the property, allowing new investors to double the monthly rent.
