On May 22, 2006, years of grassroots activism culminated in the permanent shut down of the Trojan Nuclear Reactor near Rainier, Oregon.
The 500 foot tower was laced with explosives and blown up by Portland General Electric.
Hundreds of people watched, from vantage points on both sides of the Willamette River
The KBOO News Department sent multiple crews to the site to record the historic event.
Tonight we wish to celebrate Oregon’s tradition of direct action by bringing you some of the audio from that historic moment..
