A diplomatic rift is opening underneath the critical alliance between the U-S and Turkey.
The U-S values Turkey as one of the few democratic-esque countries in the Middle East region, and the two nations are collaborating in the fight against the Islamic State.
They differ, however, in their attitude towards issues like Kurdish independence and recognition of the Armenian genocide, and those topics were studiously avoided during Turkish President Erdogan’s visit last month.
But during that trip, the Secretary of State and Washington D-C government condemned an incident involving Erdogan’s private security.
Now D-C prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for some of those men, prompting outcry from Turkey.
